Your application is just wonderful. It is so user friendly. I had a program called "Stock Watcher" from Micro Trading Software which I have used and loved for several years but that they had not updated for Apple in two or three years. Every time I called them over this period the upgrade was just a month or two away. Recently they advised they were no longer going to support Apple software. I asked if they knew where I could go for another tracking software because I refuse to give up my Apple and they had no clue. I have been having to use an old LC on system 6+ to run the application since it would not run under system 7 or 8. ProTA allowed me to import all the data from Stock Watcher in just a couple of hours. I was afraid that someday I would have to manually record and enter all my previous data.Your program is just great and the support is excellent. The program does everything I need and as I get deeper into it I am going to find more features to use. Quite a while back (maybe 2 years or so) I sent you an e-mail on AOL with a very long and detailed wish-list for an up and coming version of ProTA. I think you filled just about every wish I had. Two of my major wants, being a commodities trader, were open interest and volume studies, which are included in ProTA Gold. Many other features were included that I had wanted too. As I recall there were several delays with the new version last year, but it was well worth the wait. It's a great piece of work! About 3 weeks ago I purchased ProTA. I had been thinking about getting into the stock market on and off for the past 10 years. The major stumbling block had been the unavailability of a quality, affordable Technical analysis engine for the Mac. I had intended on working with the program with "paper" trades for an extended period; however, when I got my first download of histories 2 weeks ago yesterday, I was stunned by the screammingly loud buy signal emitted by APPLE (Using a possible 2day varient of the key reversal day coupled with a Stochastics buy signal). After some serious scrambling that next Monday AM, I managed to get a brokerage account set up. I purchased 200 shares of AAPL at 13 7/8 and settled back to watch my investment climb. Tuesday and Wednesday theprices dropped and my son of 27 was looking at me dubiously. Then it happened. Prices took off. By Thursday of this week, with the price sitting in the 16+ region, I had done some emergency reading on retracements and price objectives and determined the move would top out in the 17 7/8 to 18 1/8 region. I put stop loss orders in at 15.5 to protect my profit and waited. I should have ordered a sell at 18, but hell it's my first time out. On Thursday I moved the stoploss up to 17 7/16 where I stopped out on Friday. Anyway, in my first trade I netted $550. (My next trade will be with Datek over the net-$10/trade, NOT with Smith Barny at $150 commision round trip. (Arughhhhhh.....I could have made $700.) At any rate, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I'm not a vindictive person by nature, so I don't wish to mention the software I used before by name. But there are only a few charting programs written only for the Mac. This one had a good reputation, much like a Rolex watch. That's why I bought it in the first place. Well, this "Rolex" of charting programs gave me a lot of trouble. Having spent so much for it, I struggled with it too long. Trading is hard enough without one's software having an attitude. To continue the Rolex metaphor, I found myself late for trading appointments because it wouldnít keep time. So, disgruntled, I'm walking down the street one day and I'sm approached by this guy who wants to sell me a 'Rolex' for a mere 59 bucks. I figure that even if it has a fake movement inside, at least it will keep time and I can get on with business. I give it a try. It works great. I wonder what's going on here. In a curious mood I stop by a jeweler and he opens it up, only to find that it has a Rolex movement in it. It's the real thing and does everything that a Rolex is supposed to do. Now I have two "Rolex" charting programs. But only one is a Rolex. That is what finding ProTA was like for me. This is everything that a charting program is supposed to be. With the so-called "Rolex" program I found myself making lists of features that I thought would improve it. With ProTA everything I can think of is there and even described in the manual. Discovering all of ProTA's features has been a delight. What a great programing and design job you've done. If I was your mother, I'd be very proud. Thanks.
